Slack

Node Type

Description

Slack is a new way to communicate with your team. It’s faster, better organized, and more secure than email.

When to Use

Use the Slack action node to be notified of an execution or to create a channel or users based a specific action carried out within the flow. For example, get notified into specific Slack channels if a payment is unsuccessful or disputed. Meanwhile, the triggers can be used to initiate an automation flow from a Slack activity where it will trigger downstream activity.

How to Use

Triggers allow an action from within Slack to begin an automation:

  • Saved Message: This will trigger when you save a message.
  • Created New Channel: This will trigger when a new #channel has been created.
  • Uploaded New File: This will trigger when a new file is uploaded to your workspace.
  • User Joined: This will trigger when a new user first joins your organisation.

Actions executed during an automation will perform a specific task within your Slack workspace:

  • Send Private Channel Message: This action will post a message from the automation to a private channel of your choosing.
  • Send Chanel Message: This action will post a message in a specific open channel of your choosing.
  • Invite User: This action will invite an existing user to a channel. (Note: You must be a member of this channel in order to invite a new user to it.)
  • Create Channel: This action will create a new channel within your Slack workspace.
  • Send Direct Message: This action will send a direct message to any user or yourself via the Slackbot feature.
